United States | Light | 40% ABV

Bacardi Superior Rum is the original Bacardi rum, dating back to 1862 when Don Facundo Bacardi Massó purchased his first rum distillery in Cuba. 150 years later, Bacardi Superior is now manufactured in Puerto Rico, but the recipe remains largely the same.

A unique strain of yeast discovered in the Cuban sugarcane fields is used to produce Bacardi Superior rum. The rum is filtered through charcoal, a process pioneered by Bacardi, before and after it is aged in oak barrels for at least one year.

Flavourless drink that is closer to vodka than what I would call a rum. Unrefined, cheap and ubiquitous... there is worse but not by much.

This is industrial-cheap ready-made vodka-sambuca nightmarish stuff, coming from the bottom of Hell...
If you drink this pavement cleaner, could God have mercy on your soul...

Appearance: Clear, water like

Nose: Powerful alcohol smell with some almost hidden, very subtle hints of fruit, maybe cherry

Palate: Initial harsh punch of alcohol, almost like formaldehyde. There is some fruit released in the background shortly after, but it is almost hidden within a medicinal taste in the mouth. Reminded me somewhat of taking cherry-flavored cough medicine in my childhood, which is not a good experience. Seems like it would be good to sanitize the mouth against any virus running around -- COVID-19 maybe?

Impression: I will not drink this as a sipper ever again. I recommend it only be used as a mixer when there are lots of other flavors to hide the alcohol and medicine flavors of this "rum". However, I will survey the cheap rum mixer market for one that is not quite so distasteful to me. There are too many selections out there to suffer through this, including some much better Bacardi choices.

One of the best selling rums in the world. Not offensive in any way but also not very memorable. Great for use in a cocktail when you want alcohol there but don’t want the rum to be forward. Definitely deserves higher than a 3.6 which it has at the time of my rating. Solid addition to your home bar but not something I would reach for if I had other options.

New to this so will go with the rating comment. I've only ever used rum with cola. This seems fine considering the price when all you want is a rum and coke. I'll revise my rating once I've tried a few more.

Who has a home bar without this standard in it? Not many, and the biggest reason is it's just rum. It's not going to blow your mind, but it also won't ruin the drink you just made with an overpowering flavor. Just.... rum.

Very minimum extra taste above basic soda pop. Not very sweet in comparison to brown rum.

I’m not a fan, period. Don’t drink this straight, but heavy mixes are good. Oh, nice clear color.

as with every other white rum (except one) i don't care for the taste, don't care for it in my coke, don't care for it in anything. when i prefer water of anything i must really not like it. this is it.

I find Bacardi Superior to be fine when used with a mixer. By itself, it's not the best but definitely not the worst tasting rum (Bundaberg wins that title for me). This is a mass produced mixer rum that is good in cocktails. Everyones tastes differ so some people rating this product low is for a good reason. I would rate this as a 5.5 / 10 as it is better than being "consumed in a bind" but definitely not "tasty". This is my opinion, others will differ. I always have a bottle at home and would rather have this for mixing than some supermarket home brands regardless of being in a bind.
