Somewhat subtly spiced, but much better balanced and more drinkable than most of the popular spiced rums.
As far as spiced rums go, this one's not bad. Predominately cinnamon and nutmeg giving it a pumpkin pie vibe. But not an overpowering flavor. They've managed to balance it nicely with a little sweetness and a little vanilla. I also detect a hint of clove (which isn't something I like but that's just me) Not much of a burn. More of a nice lingering warmth. Good bright amber color and wonderful aroma. The aftertaste seems to make the vanilla more prominent.
Definitely a good mixer and I would like to think it might be something interesting to use in baking. Rum balls, anyone? Rum cake? Now THAT'S a possibility.
Christmas baking spices. Nice rich smell of cinamon, clover and anise. Very warm feeling in throat but little harsh. It could be great rum for grog preparation.
It's a bit difficult to drink by itself. It reminds me of Christmas spice because its pretty heavy nutmeg taste - almost to point of bitter. I'd recommend a mixer.
I'm not a big spiced rum drinker. So many other El Dorados are so much better, but I would certainly recommend to anyone interesting in trying a new spiced version.
Bought this rum and was excited to get it. Not bad but a little disappointing. Strong spice taste. Nutmeg? Almost too strong. I’ll be patient with it.
This was the second of three spiced rums that I tried today. It was almost a tie in taste with Don Q Oak Barrel Spiced, but this one is a much better buy at only $16. Both beat out my former top spiced rum, which was Baron Samedi. Nutmeg dominates the taste of this demerara rum, so be careful how much you drink! After resting in the glass for a while, notes of cinnamon finally come out. Cruzan 9 Spice was the loser out of the three tested today. This spiced rum is also quite versatile, working well with cola, ginger ale, limeade, and no telling what else.
Because of this test, I had to further narrow down all of my Flavored rums into: Flavored, Coconut, and Spiced. There were 9 rums in each of these three categories as of this writing, with one extra for Flavored. The spiced rums may have the least amount of added sugar out of these three categories. This makes for up to 28 out of 138 rums that have more sugar than the favorite sugar bombs such as DRE, ED12, and Zacapa 23. It looks like I have been keeping things dry and avoid suffering the next day. Keeping added sugar to less than 20 gpl also makes those bottles last much longer. If one invests in a rum collection, we should hope to still have the same great taste after only a few months. I found out the hard way that this is not true, thanks to too much added sugar. Added sugar will also bring about undesirable results the next day, while causing one to be married to the royal porcelain throne.
rhum assez simple tant au nez qu'en bouche
Plutôt discret et facile à boire
Légèrement poivré en bouche
It’s quite woody and earthy.
"It has a peppery spice to it and you also get a lot of bark, a cinnamon stick and some cloves."
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Nice drop
hate the bottle but who cares
This is a strong yet smooth drop with just a hint of the spices.
By far one of the best spiced rhums that i have invested in
