I'm tasting this side by side with El Dorado 15 yr, for comparison. And I love El Dorado 15 🙂
This is oakier. Little more bite, given the cask strength. Not as sweet (I suspect less sugar added, possibly none), but a lovely dark caramel, possibly burnt sugar nose to it. In the bottle it smell terrifically inviting. In a glass, a wide glass, something else shows up. I wish I could put a name to the flavour, just lingering leathery notes, dark and heavy... All demerara, I just can't put a finger on it. I want more.
Slightly chilled, back to that magnificent demerara molasses. Slight bite, this is a strong rum. But it's so good. It's not as smooth as an El Dorado 15, but I think that's all about not being dosed.
I'm really enjoying this 🙂
