Made from rums of between 21 and 25 years of age.
8 Nose: Buttery, with chocolatey notes behind it. Ripe banana and fruity Christmas cake. Hints of tobacco and sandalwood, leading into spent match smokiness.
9 Palate : Sultanas, dates, blackcurrant and macadamia nuts, a touch of rose water. The mid-palate brings dark chocolate and nutmeg too.
9 Finish: It just keeps going! There's fried banana and handfuls of raisin notes right through to the end, with just a little hint of spicy cinnamon.
Quite an upgrade from 15y.This is rum with a big R. A super sipper!
Rum really aging in barrels for 21 years, not a solera. In taste you filling all this years: rum has heavy body, dry, wood, leather and tobacco. Will be good choice for whiskey lovers.
This rum would be my choice out of various El Dorado rums I tried. On palate: tobaco, coffee notes. Finish is long, oaky.
I wish I could afford the bottle but spotted a gift set that included this beauty plus El dorado 15 and 12. No stranger to 12 but couldn't say "no" to the opportunity to taste something this special. I wasn't disappointed. Best rum I have tasted so far.
Okay, balanced. Smooth with just the right amount of burn
Who knew removing sweetness from rum would make it better???
In the bottle gifted to me by Buck for my birthday. Tasted on 11-25-23. An appropriate rum for my 500th rating. Pours a very dark reddish amber. The aroma fills the room. I get a malty grain aroma with rich notes of toasted caramel and a touch of funk. Up front tartness that quickly melts into citrus tangerines, cloves, leather and oakiness. Spicy finish with a long woody taste lingering. Tannic and astringent. Thinner palate than the previous blue label 21 year and quite different.
Try to get a well lit shot from the front of the rum label

Tasted the new less sweetened El Dorado 21yo after a better dinner at a restaurant downtown Stockholm.
It’s still very tasteful, but drier which suits me better. So they’ve made a good job at DDL to make it such good without much of the sugar.
