A bit watered down for me, maybe because I tried the higher proof Skeldon and albion prior but it is smooth a bit citric, orange? But overall hard to get behind because of a rancidy taste sort of an out of control barrell jamaican pot still rum but smoother watery
Tried again year later:
Dry red wine nose with hint of caramel and wood no burn. Change up on taste starting smooth but heading into a slight funk with peppery finish, long burn to be expected since it’s 55% abv
Aroma: Pronikavé, lehce esterové - spousta citrusového ovoce (grepy a pomeranče) v hávu exotického dřeva, grilovaného masa a lehké zemitosti s kořením.
Chuť: Plná, hutná, nasládlá, ovocně nakyslá, pikantně kouřová.
Dozvuk: Stopa vanilky, pikantní čokoláda s mokrým nahořklým dřevem, stopově mentolová svěžest a sušené ovoce. Delší.
Sladkost: 0/3

Naprostá paráda! Společně s Port Mourant 1999 to nejlepší z Rare Collection.

SVW is a seldom markt, there are just a few bottlings and usually it's very flowery. It's just a beautiful mark that I really like.
Nose: Incredibly flowery, aromatic. The rum literally jumps out of the glass.
Flowers, lipstick and dried fruits. Wood flavors with caramel follow. A very beautiful smell. Some leather, orange zest and a few aromas of milk chocolate. I don't have to go into too much detail here, as the smell is incredibly good and you can certainly still discover many fine aromas. It goes strongly in the direction of Velier Diamond SVW 1996, but Velier was even more complex and intense.
Taste: Flowery start with grapes, lipstick and red dried fruits. Some bitter substances develop and you get the impression of biting a grape seed. The mouthfeel is also somewhat astringent (dried). Orange zest with wood emerge towards the middle, the grapes are still present. Orange zest literally explode as the spice increases.
The finish is slightly spicy, with lots of dried fruits, grapes and floral aromas.
Aftertaste: flowery aromas, lipstick, dried fruits, some wood
Conclusion: a great rum and a typical SVW. It is very aromatic, but does not quite reach the Velier SVW, which is even more complex. Therefore 94 points.
